May all writers have a little 'blue ice' in their veins.

What a kind and loving story, Mya! I've so often wondered what it might have been like to have that kind of support at home, ours was much more of an "ignore it and it will go away" kind of emotional dynamic. Beautifully written, my dear. 🥲

Yes, I also had a very different experience, and it was quite a task to push that aside and imagine a plausible set-up for Blue Ice to blossom.

Thank you so much, Troy! 💙

Thank you so much, Terry; I am really surprised as I struggled to write this, the prompt being so good I wasn't sure I could add much to it!

What a resonant image to fortify one through the difficulties of life - blue ice. You showed the love and connection of that family so beautifully. A gripping story, well done.

Mya, thank you for your wonderful words. I have had the chance to work amongst many great leaders. Their commonality was an innate kindness and concern for those they led, supported by a blue ice that gave them the confidence to withstand the slings and arrows that came their way.

Sadly we are seeing so many Tonys these days. We need blue ice more than ever to withstand these difficult times.

Thank you so much for reading and for sharing your experience, Scott; we do indeed need blue ice more than ever, I'm hopeful that any goodness created and shared can create and nurture more kindness.

Lovely! This line especially made me smile: “Did that mean I shouldn’t worry about being prepared with repartee, about being witty enough or tough enough: it was already in me!” 💙

I’ve always been fascinated by the simplicity of how a story is past down .

Carried through time to be delivered to the next generation.

All it takes is just two people.

One to tell the tale and one to listen.

You used such a beautiful premise and began wrapping the story around it in fine intricate layers.

I am sure it was especially difficult to choose words that would come from the vocabulary of a young girl.

Anonymous gave you the prompt , the rest

came directly from your heart.

Nice job

Well done. What a terrific premise for a writing challenge!! Prompts from the heart provide the most heartfelt fodder for new stories. I could feel poor Sissi’s joy and pain so intensely. Beautifully done dear Mya.

What a beautiful, heartfelt parable. I could feel her pain, but also how deeply the love her parents and grandfather was for her. I hope you enjoyed writing this as much as I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you so much Troy, it was tricky as it’s quite far removed from my comfort zone and I was very conscious about it being read by the author of the prompt so it took a while to relax into it !

I absolutely experienced the same emotions, but I think the exercise was a great success.
