This was incredibly timely for me because I just saw the Kusama exhibit in Bilbao, and I knew about her residence but didn't have any context. This was great - thank you!

I have wanted to see her exhibit in LA but have never been able to get in when I've been visiting there but it's coming to SFMoMA soon and I can't wait to try to see it here. Have you written anything about seeing that or do you have anything more you'd like to share?

Just that I was astonished by the longevity of her artistic life, there were a few early paintings from 1954 as I recall, and videos and an installation from late 60s/70s of mannequins. It was delightful.

She's had an astoundingly long creative life! It's been really amazing to see her really getting attention and recognition for her work today at such a huge scale when for many decades she was a working artist but not getting that kind of reception.

I had never heard of her until your book, Kathryn (thank you!), and I love that Kusama's work feels timeless, that she feeds into a wave of reframing age, culture and mental health preconceptions so beautifully.

Well said and I'm glad it helped you to find her work. The documentary about her (Kusama: Infinity) is worth a watch.

It must be quite something to actually see her art in the flesh, so to speak. Thank you so much for sharing.
